The Bosphorus, also known as the Istanbul Strait, forms part of the boundary between Europe and Asia. The only passage between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, the Bosporus has always been of great commercial and strategic importance.


The ships approaching from the opposite direction cannot be seen round these bends also there is very heavy ferry traffic in the Strait of Istanbul, which crosses between the European and Asiatic sides of the city.


And here is the venue for the annual Bosphorus Cup - an international  yachting regatta with boats tacking and gybing between the two continents.
