british isles of scilly- united kingdom
The Isles of Scilly form an archipelago off the southwestern tip of the Cornish peninsula of Great Britain. The last land before America to it’s west and the first land to be sighted from the lookout in a crows nest on top of sailing ships, from the Americas before entering the English Channel.
200 jagged Island rocks surround the five inhabited islands . Most submerged. A renowned area for shipwrecks.
With pilots on board , gigs raced out to the sailing ships to win the lucrative prize of piloting boats around the hazards . The inner islands are warmed by the Gulf Stream and their micro climate allows exotic plants to flourish.
